Yale Teaching Fellowship Cohort 3 Applications Open: Full Tuition and a $47,380 First-Year Stipend for Aspiring Teachers
Applications are now open for Cohort 3 of the Yale Teaching Fellowship, offering full graduate tuition, a first-year living stipend, and certification pathways to support New Haven Public Schools.

Overview
The Yale Teaching Fellowship Cohort 3 is an intensive graduate education and teacher-preparation initiative created through a partnership among Yale University, New Haven Public Schools, New Haven Promise, and Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). The program addresses persistent teacher shortages by preparing educators for high-need fields—specifically mathematics, science, and special education—within New Haven Public Schools.
The fellowship offers two main pathways:
- Teacher Pipeline Track: Designed for college graduates who do not yet hold a teaching certificate. It provides a two-year Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at SCSU, full tuition, and a $47,380 living stipend during the first fellowship year.
- Current Teachers Track: Designed for eligible full-time teachers already working in New Haven Public Schools. It provides full tuition for a Master of Science and a special education cross-endorsement.
Benefits
- Full graduate tuition support for the applicable SCSU master's degree.
- A living stipend of $47,380 during the first fellowship year for Teacher Pipeline Track participants.
- Connecticut teacher certification or a special education cross-endorsement.
- Extensive clinical classroom experience, mentorship, and a cohort-based learning model.
- A structured route into a high-need teaching career, followed by ongoing post-degree mentorship.
Eligibility
