World Bank Small AI for Development Hackathon 2026: Build Inclusive AI Solutions and Win Sponsored Travel to Seoul
Young innovators are invited to develop practical artificial intelligence solutions for communities facing limited connectivity and digital access. Three sector winners will receive sponsored travel to present their work at the Global AI and Digital Summit in Seoul.

Overview
The World Bank Group Small AI for Development Hackathon Challenge invites individuals and teams of up to four people to design targeted artificial intelligence solutions for developing economies. Instead of assuming advanced devices and reliable broadband, participants must focus on constrained environments utilizing accessible technologies such as basic mobile phones, sensors, local models, or SMS- and voice-based systems.
The challenge features three distinct sectors:
- Health: AI solutions addressing health sector challenges under constrained operating conditions.
- Agriculture: Technology creating measurable value for agricultural stakeholders in resource-limited settings.
- Tourism: Practical AI tools providing meaningful sector benefits while respecting infrastructure limits.
Three winning entries—one from each sector—will be chosen to present their solutions at the Global AI and Digital Summit, taking place from 19–22 October 2026 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
