WHO 2026 Urban Health Training: Apply for the Urban Health Capacity Assessment and Response Kit Training
The World Health Organization is inviting qualified urban health professionals, policymakers, and cross-sectoral teams to apply for its online training on the Urban Health Capacity Assessment and Response Kit.

Overview
The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a call for applicants for its 2nd Training on the Urban Health Capacities Assessment and Response Kit. This four-week online professional development programme is designed to strengthen the ability of practitioners and cross-sectoral teams to assess, understand, and respond to complex urban health challenges through collaborative approaches.
The curriculum focuses on the practical application of the WHO Urban Health Capacities Assessment and Response Resource Kit. Training sessions will be delivered online via Zoom across four scheduled dates: 17 September, 24 September, 1 October, and 8 October 2026, running from 14:00 to 16:00 CET. Participants should also expect to dedicate an additional four to six hours per week to offline preparation and assignments.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet specific academic and professional criteria:
- Academic Requirement: A bachelor’s-level university degree.
- Professional Experience: At least five years of professional experience, or three years of experience combined with an advanced degree.
- Language: Excellent command of English, as it is the working language of the training.
- Professional Background: Experience working in policy-making, city-level practice, multi-sectoral environments, or fields influencing urban health (such as public health, transport, housing, infrastructure, climate resilience, and urban planning).
The WHO encourages two main categories of applicants:
- Cross-Sectoral Teams: Groups of three to four individuals sharing a common urban health goal who represent at least two different sectors or organizations. Preference is given to team applications.
- Individual Facilitators: Professionals with significant experience facilitating multi-sectoral processes and close working relationships with local government or related institutions.
Women and professionals from low- and middle-income countries are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants must prepare and submit three mandatory application components:
- Letter of Interest: A maximum 500-word statement explaining professional background, motivation, and interest in applying the Resource Kit.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): An up-to-date CV highlighting academic qualifications and relevant urban health or multi-sectoral experience.
- Personal Video Statement: A video of no more than five minutes addressing why you want to participate and responding to two chosen scenario-based questions provided by the WHO.
