VCIS Scheme 2027 in Australia
The VCIS Scheme at the University of Sydney provides high-achieving international students with funding up to $60,000 for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees. Eligible candidates are automatically considered upon receiving an unconditional offer of admission.

Overview
The Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships Scheme (VCIS) supports exceptional international students who commence a CRICOS-registered coursework degree at the University of Sydney. Awards are granted to recognize outstanding academic achievement and help fund onshore undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
Benefits
The scheme offers five different funding amounts depending on the recipient's academic ranking and cohort:
- $60,000 payable for one year in two equal instalments per semester
- $40,000 payable for one year in two equal instalments per semester
- $20,000 payable for one semester
- $10,000 payable for one semester
- $5,000 payable for one semester
Eligibility
To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold international student status.
- Have applied for, but not yet commenced, an onshore CRICOS-registered bachelor’s degree or coursework master’s degree at the University of Sydney.
- Receive an unconditional offer of admission by the relevant scholarship close date.
- Not be a recipient of scholarships provided by the Australian Government.
- Not have previously held the Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarships if commencing a second degree at the university.
How to Apply
No separate application is necessary. Eligible students who secure an unconditional offer of admission by the specific closing dates will undergo automatic consideration. Successful candidates must accept their unconditional offer by the deadline associated with their scholarship offer round and remain enrolled following the census date.
Deadline
Deadlines vary by intake round. For example, Semester 1, 2027 Round 1 closes on 17 August 2026.
