The UQGRSS Scholarship provides living stipends, tuition support, and OSHC for higher degree by research students at The University of Queensland.
Overview
The UQGRSS Scholarship is administered by the Graduate Research School at The University of Queensland (UQ). It supports postgraduate research candidates undertaking a PhD, Master of Philosophy (MPhil), or research-focused professional doctorate by helping them focus on their research candidature.

- Nominated by an enrolling school or institute at UQ
- Assessed by the Graduate Research School as meeting all conditions for admission to the higher degree by research program
How to Apply
Prospective candidates must check their eligibility for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy and identify a relevant supervisor. You do not need to submit a separate application for the scholarship; instead, you submit an expression of interest (EOI) for your preferred program.
During the EOI process, you must complete the 'Scholarship/Sponsorship' section by answering whether you are applying for an advertised project ('No') and whether you are applying for or have been awarded a non-UQ scholarship or sponsorship ('No'). Domestic students must also select if they wish to be considered for a living stipend scholarship alongside a tuition fee scholarship.
Currently enrolled HDR candidates can apply via the round dates by completing the online application form for enrolled HDR student nomination, supplying details of their candidature, Principal Advisor, current CV, and two referees.
Deadline
Application closing dates depend on the specific scholarship round and applicant type, with international closing dates listed as 19 October 2026 and other domestic rounds featuring dates such as 31 August 2026.
