The University of Vechta, through the Vechta Institute of Sustainability Transformation in Rural Areas (VISTRA) and funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation, provides up to three PhD scholarships. The doctoral college focuses on "Justice dimensions of sustainability-oriented transformation processes in rural areas" (PK 060) and supports comparative case studies, quantitative approaches, and mixed-methods research.
Benefits

Eligibility
- Open to fields relevant to the doctoral program topics, such as human geography, social sciences, applied ethics, economics, sustainability science, or psychology.
- Both qualitative and quantitative research approaches are welcome, with quantitative or mixed-methods designs explicitly encouraged.
- Candidates must demonstrate good German (at least level B2) and English (at least level C1) language skills.

Applicants must prepare the required documents along with a project exposé of up to 10 pages outlining the planned research and its classification within the doctoral college program. Submissions must be made exclusively through the Hans Böckler Foundation’s online application portal.
