United Nations Volunteer Program 2026 (Funded)

Overview

The United Nations Volunteer Program, administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), offers individuals the chance to contribute to global peace and development. The initiative features two primary tracks: On-site Volunteering and Online Volunteering. While participants are not official UN employees, eligible on-site volunteers receive financial support to assist with basic expenses during their placement.

Benefits

• Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): A monthly stipend to cover housing, food, and local transportation.
• Settling-in Grant: A one-time payment assisting international volunteers with relocation.
• Travel Expenses: Coverage for flights and visa-related costs for eligible travel.
• Insurance: Comprehensive health, life, and disability coverage.
• Leave: Access to paid annual leave and sick leave.
• Learning and Development: Opportunities for training and skill enhancement.
• Resettlement Allowance: A lump-sum payment provided upon completion of the assignment.

Eligibility

Specific requirements depend on the individual role, duration, and contract type. In general, national volunteers operate within their home countries, whereas international volunteers serve abroad using specialized expertise. Online volunteering is globally accessible without strict background requirements.
