Overview
The United Nations Chemicals and Waste Management Study Programme 2026 is a youth-focused learning and professional development initiative in Geneva, Switzerland. The second edition of the programme is organized by the Chemicals and Waste Youth Platform (CWYP) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Selected participants gain practical exposure to United Nations environmental processes, expert-led training, and site visits related to international chemicals and waste governance. Additionally, participants have opportunities to engage in youth activities and negotiations connected to the Global Framework on Chemicals First International Conference (GFC IC-1).
Benefits
Up to eight fully funded scholarships are available to support successful applicants. The scholarship coverage includes:
- Economy-class round-trip airfare booked by the organizing team.
- Hotel accommodation arranged by the organizers.
- Study Programme participation fees.
- Reimbursement for approved meals, visa fees, and local transportation costs against receipts.
- A UNITAR Certificate of Completion upon finishing the programme.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the scholarship:
- Age Requirement: Must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application.
- Geographic and Community Eligibility: Must be from a Low- and Middle-Income Country (LMIC), Least Developed Country (LDC), Small Island Developing State (SIDS), or represent Indigenous Peoples.
- Availability: Must be fully available to travel and stay in Geneva from 8–20 November 2026, covering both the Study Programme and associated GFC IC-1 activities.
- Authenticity: Must submit an original, personalized application without copy-pasted AI-generated responses.
