Overview
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is offering the Foresight and Futures Work Internship within the Strategic Planning Branch of the Programme Division. Based in Nairobi, Kenya (with a remote work arrangement), this full-time position is scheduled to begin in September 2026 for an initial duration of three months, with a possibility of extension.
The role provides practical exposure to strategic foresight within a United Nations development organization. Responsibilities include conducting horizon scanning, trend analysis, scenario thinking, knowledge management, training support, and working with AI-assisted foresight tools under human review.
Eligibility
- Open to students and recent graduates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- Applicants must be either enrolled in their final year of study or have graduated within the past 12 months.
- Eligible academic disciplines include Futures Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Demography, Development Studies, Data Science, International Relations, or another relevant field.
- Required fluency in English; knowledge of another United Nations language is considered an asset.
- Applicants must ensure they have valid medical insurance for the entire duration of the internship.
