Overview
The Umea University PhD Scholarship in Sweden provides fully funded doctoral research opportunities hosted by the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE). Selected candidates will join the research project titled “Next-Generation Latent Variable Models for Social Data Science,” focusing on statistical theory, methodology, and computational approaches for social science data.

Eligibility
- Must hold an advanced-level degree with a major in Statistics or possess equivalent qualifications.
- Must have completed mathematics courses equivalent to at least 30 ECTS credits.
- Demonstrate a strong quantitative background in disciplines such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related areas.
- Possess strong programming skills, a demonstrated interest in statistical modeling, and motivation to develop methodology for relevant societal questions.
- Knowledge and practical implementation experience in statistical machine learning serve as a strong merit.
