Eligibility

Must be an international student studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit
Entering UBC directly from an accredited secondary school (graduating no earlier than June 2026 for the 2027 Winter session)
Applying for a first undergraduate degree
Able to demonstrate a significant level of financial need where pursuing a degree would be impossible without meaningful help
Meet UBC's admission requirements, including superior academic achievement (all As or equivalent) and English Language Admission Standard
Specific degrees, such as Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Medical Laboratory Science, and certain joint or dual degrees, are excluded from eligibility

How to Apply

Applicants should begin the process early by completing the following steps:

Mid-September: Decide on your academic program and campus choice.
Late September: Discuss the nomination process with your school to secure one nominator and one teacher referee (must be different people).
Early October: Submit your UBC admissions application, which is required prior to starting the International Scholars Program application.
Gather required family and financial information, complete student essays, and submit official documents demonstrating financial need.
