Overview

The U.S. Department of the Treasury International Affairs Junior Fellowship 2027–2029 is a highly selective, fixed two-year program designed for new college graduates interested in international economic policy, finance, public policy, and international relations. Participants work within Treasury’s Office of International Affairs (IA) in either regional or functional offices, gaining exposure to international financial developments, policy analysis, and bilateral and multilateral engagements with major institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, G7, and G20.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have recently received, or be close to receiving, a bachelor’s degree, with preference given to undergraduate students.
  • Relevant academic coursework may include economics, public policy, finance, international relations, or related disciplines.
  • Applicants must demonstrate 52 weeks (or 2,080 hours) of relevant paid or unpaid work, volunteer, or extracurricular experience.
  • Candidates must hold U.S. citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance.

  • A cover letter
  • A resume of no more than two pages detailing relevant duties, dates, and weekly hours
  • One recommendation letter
  • Transcript(s) demonstrating academic qualifications

In addition to the documents, the application email must state the candidate's desired start date, confirm U.S. citizenship, and note any veterans' preference eligibility. Candidates passing the initial screening will be invited to respond to two short essay questions.

Deadline

The application deadline is October 31, 2026. Application evaluations will take place in December 2026, and selected fellows are expected to begin in summer 2027.
