Overview
The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program is a comprehensive educational and workforce development initiative funded by the U.S. Department of War. It aims to support students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while creating a direct pathway into civilian careers at Department of War facilities.

Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom
- Must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2028
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Must be currently pursuing or planning to pursue an eligible STEM degree beginning in Fall 2027
- Must plan to attend or already be enrolled in a regionally accredited U.S. college or university
- Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance
- Must accept a one-for-one post-graduation civilian employment commitment with the Department of War
