Overview

The Shanghai Sci-tech Co-research Program invites young international scientists to undertake joint research projects in Shanghai, China. Funded by the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM), the initiative offers support for high-risk, high-value basic research and frontier technologies while strengthening the city's international research ecosystem.

Eligibility

  • Must hold foreign nationality.
  • Must possess a PhD in natural sciences or engineering from a world-class university or renowned research institution.
  • Must be under 45 years of age, born on or after January 1, 1981.
  • Must hold a formal teaching or research position at an overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D department.
  • Must not hold full-time employment within China or serve as a legal representative or principal executive of a Chinese enterprise.
  • Must conduct research in Shanghai for a cumulative total of at least 6 months during the project, featuring one continuous stay of at least 3 months.
  • Host organization must be a legal entity or unincorporated organization registered in Shanghai.

How to Apply

Applicants must first establish contact with a potential host organization in Shanghai willing to collaborate. The host organization will then assist in preparing and submitting the application online through the official management information system. No hard paper copies are required for submission.
