SFU Climate Innovation Seed Funds 2026: Up to $100,000 Available to Advance Community-Centred Climate Research and Innovation
Simon Fraser University is providing $100,000 in total funding across three streams to advance interdisciplinary, community-centred climate research and innovation. Interested applicants must submit their proposals before the extended deadline of 6 August 2026.

Overview
The SFU Climate Innovation Seed Funds support interdisciplinary collaboration and transform early-stage concepts into practical climate solutions through partnerships between researchers, students, Indigenous Nations, governments, community organizations, NGOs, and industry. A total of $100,000 is distributed across three funding streams:
- Amplification Grant: Two grants of up to $25,000 each for interdisciplinary teams to build major research initiatives and prepare large grant proposals.
- Catalyst Grant: Two grants of $15,000 each for faculty teams partnering with established community groups to co-design climate solutions.
- Pollinator Award: Four awards of $5,000 each for graduate students participating in Catalyst Grant projects.

Beyond financial support, awardees receive access to professional ecosystems of support, such as convening and facilitation via the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, partnership development, knowledge mobilization, grant-writing assistance, and capacity-building resources.
Eligibility
- Amplification Grant: Applicants should lead interdisciplinary research, develop collaborative agendas, and convene stakeholders.
- Catalyst Grant: Applicants must include faculty members from at least two non-adjacent disciplines and demonstrate established community partnerships.
- Pollinator Award: Graduate student applicants must be enrolled at SFU, linked to a Catalyst Grant, and demonstrate interdisciplinary research.
