Overview

The RFSoC Drone Scholarship 2026 supports research activities in passive drone detection utilizing RFSoC-based multichannel sensing platforms. Hosted by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg and funded by the defense BRIDGES project DRONE-SENSE, this role is located at the Kirchberg Campus. Selected candidates contribute to developing a distributed passive RF sensing network for drone detection through hardware design, FPGA firmware development, and algorithm validation.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must hold an MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a closely related discipline.
  • Must possess experience with SDR platforms like USRPs, RF hardware, or RFSoC platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or FPGA development.
  • Practical experience with laboratory measurements and system integration.
  • An excellent command of English (C1 level) is mandatory.
  • Residency is restricted to applicants from EU, EEA, and EFTA countries, NATO Member Countries, Ukraine, or designated NATO Indo-Pacific Partners including Australia, Japan, the Republic of South Korea, and New Zealand.
