Results for Development (R4D) is seeking a Program Officer to join its Scaling Innovation Practice in Abuja, Nigeria. This full-time, hybrid position supports an upcoming UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office-funded programme dedicated to strengthening Nigeria's science, technology, and innovation (STI) ecosystem. The role operates on a fixed-term basis through March 31, 2027, with possibilities for extension depending on funding.
The program is structured around three core workstreams:
- UK-Nigeria Science and Technology Cluster Partnership: Researching priority sectors and examining cluster models for mutual benefit.
- Research-to-Enterprise Pilot: Exploring approaches to connect research with enterprise through commercialisation and knowledge transfer.
- Responsible AI Research Initiative: Connecting Nigerian and UK researchers around national AI governance and innovation policy issues.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet specific academic and professional experience requirements:
- Either a Master's degree with at least three years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least five years of relevant experience in global development, public policy, science, technology, innovation, or a related field.
- Demonstrated background in programme and project management within global development, innovation, or science and technology.
- Experience working in technology innovation, scaling innovation, and strengthening innovation ecosystems.
- Proven experience managing components of donor-funded programmes, particularly FCDO-funded initiatives.
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills across multi-stakeholder environments.
- Mandatory Requirement: All candidates must already possess the legal right to work in Nigeria.
