RC09 Student Paper Award Scholarship 2027 in South Korea

Overview
The RC09 Student Paper Award is presented by the ISA Research Committee on Social Transformations and Sociology of Development (ISA RC09). This competition recognizes outstanding sociological research papers produced by PhD candidates studying social transformations, global inequalities, and development processes. Selected winners gain the opportunity to showcase their work at the XXI ISA Congress of Sociology taking place in Gwangju, South Korea, in July 2027.

Eligibility
- Candidates must be actively enrolled in a PhD degree program at a recognized institution during submission, or be junior faculty / academic staff currently finishing their PhD.
- Submissions may include unpublished studies, previously published work, or papers accepted for publication, provided they were written while enrolled in a PhD track.
- Co-authored papers are permitted if all authors are PhD students; works co-authored with faculty advisors or PhD holders are not permitted.
- Winners must maintain or obtain membership in the International Sociological Association (ISA) and RC09 by July 2027.
How to Apply
Applicants must prepare an anonymized research paper formatted strictly according to guidelines (maximum 8,000 words including bibliography, Times New Roman 12pt, 2-line spacing, 3 cm margins, saved as a PDF or Word document). The front page must display only the title, an abstract of up to 500 words, and up to five keywords, leaving out all author identifiers.
Gather the remaining administrative requirements:
- An anonymized English translation of the paper (if originally written in another language).
- A detailed curriculum vitae (CV).
- A cover letter stating the paper title, author name(s), institutional affiliation, and contact details.
- Proof verifying active current PhD enrollment.
- A signed declaration confirming eligibility and a commitment to present at the ISA Congress if selected.
