Pure Ocean Call for Projects 2027: Up to €80,000 for Innovative Ocean Research and Marine Biodiversity Conservation
Pure Ocean invites non-profit organizations, universities, and research institutes to submit innovative applied research projects for marine ecosystem protection and biodiversity conservation.

Overview
The Pure Ocean Call for Projects provides financial support for innovative applied research initiatives focused on protecting marine ecosystems, conserving biodiversity, and improving the understanding of the ocean system. The 2027 call centers on four key themes: addressing marine pollution at the source, protecting and restoring degraded habitats, building climate change resilience, and advancing scientific knowledge of the ocean.
Projects are evaluated based on innovation, relevance, consistency, collaboration, and dissemination strategies. Selected initiatives can receive up to €40,000 annually for one to two years, resulting in a maximum possible grant of €80,000 for a two-year project.
Eligibility
- Applicant Type: Only non-profit organizations, universities, research institutes, and NGOs can apply and receive funding.
- Geographical Focus: Projects must be based exclusively in mainland France or eligible French overseas territories.
- Participant Background: Both French and international researchers are welcome to apply, provided the project site is located within the qualifying French territories.
- Age Limit: There is no age limit, and early-career researchers are particularly encouraged to participate.
How to Apply
The selection process consists of two phases:
- Phase 1: Applicants submit a concise online proposal detailing the main project idea, project leader, organization, graphical abstract, and keywords.
- Phase 2: Selected finalists advance to submit a comprehensive full proposal.
Applications must be submitted in English via the online platform. Incomplete submissions will be disqualified.
