Overview

The Australian National University (ANU) is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship within the Department of International Relations at the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs. Based at the Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW), the program examines gender-based violence in migration, displacement, trafficking, conflict, and climate-related disasters across Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.

Benefits

  • Annual stipend of approximately AUD $39,069 per year, paid fortnightly.
  • International student fee coverage through a Higher Degree Research (HDR) Fee Remission Merit Scholarship for qualifying recipients.
  • Relocation support of up to AUD $1,000 for domestic students and up to AUD $2,500 for international students.

Eligibility

    Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a domestic or international student.
  • Demonstrate expertise or strong interest in eliminating violence against women in migration, displacement, or trafficking contexts.
  • Have completed a Master’s degree with a substantial research component or hold equivalent qualifications.
  • Meet ANU PhD admission requirements and possess strong academic capabilities.
  • Priority consideration is given to applicants with lived experience of displacement, Pasifika scholars, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, First Nations peoples, and those from Indo-Pacific communities.
