Applications are now open for the OpenAI Student Collective 2026–2027, a campus leadership initiative empowering undergraduate students to build active AI learning communities. Selected participants receive funding, tools, training, and a cash stipend.

Overview
The OpenAI Student Collective is a campus leadership initiative designed to empower undergraduate students to help their peers learn, experiment with, and confidently use artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Codex. Selected participants serve as OpenAI Campus Leads working in pairs to build active AI learning communities on their college and university campuses. Campus Leads organize workshops, facilitate weekly project-building sessions, host campus showcases, and help students across different academic disciplines discover practical and creative ways to use AI.

Eligibility
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate college or university program as of August 2026 (postgraduate students are not eligible).
- Must expect to graduate after December 2027.
- Must be able to commit an average of 4 to 6 hours per week from August 2026 through June 2027.
- Initially available to eligible undergraduate students studying in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, India, Japan, and South Korea, with appropriate work authorization. Students studying elsewhere may apply to register their interest.
- Must not currently be an ambassador, intern, fellow, campus representative, or hold another formal role for another AI program or company.
How to Apply
Applicants must complete the online application form. The submission process includes providing basic personal and academic background information, answering short written responses regarding challenges facing young people and recent shifts in perspective, and submitting two required 60-second video responses via accessible links. Candidates should carefully test their video links to ensure they can be viewed without special permissions before submitting.
