Overview
The Nonprofit Open Source Partnership is a collaborative initiative bringing together Bloomberg, Develop for Good, CodeDay, and Fast Forward. It helps technology-focused nonprofit organizations transform their existing software projects into publicly accessible, licensed, and well-documented open source tools at no financial cost.
Selected organizations receive a dedicated team of eight vetted and trained college student volunteer developers who commit approximately 800 hours of technical work over a 16-week program duration. Participants also benefit from weekly check-ins, professional mentorship from Bloomberg employee volunteers, open source guidance from CodeDay, and structured project support from Develop for Good.
Eligibility
- Must be a technology-focused nonprofit organization with an existing software tool, application, platform, or internal technology project.
- Must have a sufficiently defined project ready for open source preparation, documentation, or contribution.
- Must be able to provide a dedicated staff point-of-contact to commit approximately 2 to 3 hours per week for 16 weeks to collaborate with student developers and mentors.
