Overview
The NL Scholarship provides fully funded opportunities for talented non-EU/EEA master's students admitted to participating full-time programmes at Maastricht University. The scheme combines the UM High Potential Scholarship and the NL Scholarship, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science alongside Dutch higher education institutions. Each academic year, 18 full awards are available to support exceptional scholars.

Eligibility
- Hold citizenship in a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam, and qualify for a Dutch entry visa and residence permit.
- Must not possess dual nationality from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Applied for a participating full-time master's programme at Maastricht University for the 2027-2028 academic year and submitted a complete admission file by 10 December 2026.
- Never participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands.
- Aged 35 years or younger as of 1 September 2027.
- Demonstrate academic excellence with a GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher.
How to Apply
Candidates must first apply for an eligible master's programme via Studielink to receive a student ID number. Applicants must ensure their full master's admission file is submitted by 10 December 2026. Afterwards, candidates must complete the official online scholarship application form using their UM account and upload all required documents.
Required submission files include a CV of maximum two A4 pages, a motivation letter using the designated template, proof of academic excellence with grade system explanation, a personal statement of financial needs, and one reference letter dated no earlier than February 2026 along with the referee's contact details.

The application deadline is 1 February 2027 at 23:59 hrs.
