Overview
The Mastercard DrPH Scholarship supports doctoral study in public health at the University of Toronto, Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Administered through a partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and the university, the award aims to help alumni and graduating students from Africa Health Collaborative partner universities transition to graduate life in Toronto and prepare to contribute to economic growth and social development upon returning to their home countries.

Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of and currently residing in a Sub-Saharan African country.
- Must have graduated from an Africa Health Collaborative partner institution and not yet started doctoral-level graduate studies.
- Must demonstrate academic excellence and leadership qualities throughout undergraduate and master's studies.
- Must be academically admissible to the sponsored Doctor of Public Health program.
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to returning home for the last two years of the program to contribute to regional development.
How to Apply
Applicants must first review the admission requirements for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program of study. Following that, candidates are required to register and attend one of the virtual information sessions, as attendance is mandatory for application consideration. Eligible candidates must then complete the Mastercard Foundation Doctoral Scholarship application, with the form link provided during the info sessions. Shortlisted candidates will later be invited to submit an official program application to the University of Toronto.

The deadline to submit the completed Mastercard Foundation Doctoral Scholarship application is October 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST (Toronto time).
