Mandela Washington Fellowship Scholarship 2027 in USA | Fully Funded

Overview

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is an exchange initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by IREX. It invites approximately 550 young African leaders to the United States for a six-week executive-style institute. Participants gain training, industry exposure, and networking opportunities designed to build long-term partnerships with American counterparts.

Eligibility

Be 25–35 years old on or before the application deadline, with exceptional candidates aged 21–24 also considered
Be a citizen and resident of an eligible Sub-Saharan African country as of February 1, 2027, and at the beginning of the Fellowship in June 2027
Not be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and be eligible to receive a U.S. J-1 visa
Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Not be an employee or immediate family member of an employee of the U.S. Government or IREX
Not be a previous Mandela Washington Fellow
Exhibit a commitment to community leadership, professional accomplishments, and collaborative capabilities
