Overview
The Legal Internship 2027 is a twelve-month programme administered by the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit (DGRU) at the University of Cape Town in partnership with the High Court divisions, the Land Court, and the South African Judicial Education Institute (SAJEI). Selected candidates work in person across designated locations including Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, and Pietermaritzburg from 4 January to 31 December 2027.

Eligibility
- Hold an LLB or a four-year recognised legal qualification accredited by SAQA.
- Demonstrate familiarity with electronic information resources, online retrieval platforms (such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Jutastat, and Sabinet), and law library resources.
- For Land Court applications, display an interest in land reform, public interest litigation, or governance.
- Preference is given to candidates already residing in the relevant region of the placement.
