Overview

The Kellogg Fellowship is a visiting fellowship hosted by the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Designed for international doctoral and postdoctoral scholars, it supports research focused on democracy and human development. Fellows gain dedicated time to advance personal studies while collaborating with academics across the United States and globally within a supportive scholarly community.

Eligibility

Open to applicants from all countries, requiring advanced English proficiency and a valid passport capable of obtaining a J-1 visa.
Target candidates include promising junior and mid-career scholars, distinguished senior scholars, and accomplished policymakers, journalists, or practitioners.
Advanced ABD graduate students may apply provided they complete their PhD before beginning the fellowship.
In exceptional cases, the Institute supports applicants with a PhD or equivalent in other disciplines, as well as eminent scholars and practitioners without a PhD.

How to Apply

Candidates must complete their submissions through the online application system by taking the following steps:

Create an account in the Kellogg Institute online application system.
Complete the Visiting Fellowship Application Form and the Institutional Required Information Form (IRIF).
Upload a cover letter that addresses your fellowship interest and specifies your preferred term of stay.
Upload your curriculum vitae.
Upload a research project statement spanning 6 to 10 double-spaced pages.
Upload a project abstract of 150 words maximum and a short bio of 200 to 300 words.
Provide three names and email addresses for letters of recommendation.
Submit your complete application through the official platform.
