The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2027 provides fully funded master’s degree opportunities for nationals of developing countries. Scholars receive tuition, monthly stipends, airfare, and health insurance.

Overview
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program offers financial support for citizens of eligible developing countries to undertake master’s studies in development-related fields. Available for 44 participating master’s programs across 24 universities in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan, the award lasts for the duration of the graduate program or two years, whichever is shorter.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a national of a World Bank member developing country and not hold dual citizenship in any developed country.
- Must be in good health.
- Must hold a bachelor's degree earned at least 3 years prior to the application deadline.
- Must be employed in a paid, full-time development-related position at the time of application, with at least 3 years of paid development-related work experience acquired within the past 6 years from the deadline.
- Must be admitted unconditionally (except for funding) to at least one participating master’s program outside the country of citizenship and residence.
- Must not be a World Bank Group staff member, executive director, or a close relative of the aforementioned.
- Must not have previously declined a JJ/WBGSP offer or received the scholarship without graduating.

Applicants must first gain unconditional admission (except for funding) to one of the participating master’s programs. Deadline
Application Window 1 runs from 18 January to 26 February 2027, and Application Window 2 runs from 29 March to 21 May 2027.
