JET Programme 2027: Apply to Teach English in Japan for at Least One Year as an Assistant Language Teacher
The Government of Japan invites young South African university graduates to apply for the JET Programme 2027 to work as Assistant Language Teachers for at least one year.

Overview
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme 2027 offers young South African university graduates an opportunity to gain international teaching and cultural exchange experience by working in Japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs). Administered through cooperation among Japanese government ministries and agencies, the programme promotes grassroots internationalisation and cross-cultural understanding at the local level.
Participants are generally appointed for a one-year period and are placed in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools, as well as local boards of education and related institutions. Successful candidates receive financial remuneration and transportation support funded through their assigned Contracting Organisation.

- Personal attributes: Adaptable, physically and mentally capable of performing duties, deeply interested in Japan, and committed to promoting mutual understanding.
