Benefits
- Monthly stipend of HK$28,700 (subject to annual review, based on the stated 2026–27 rate).
- Annual conference and research-related travel allowance of up to HK$14,400 for a maximum of three years.
- Lingnan University provides the same level of fellowship and travel allowance for a fourth year for awardees in programmes with a normative four-year study period.
- Alternative consideration for regular PhD admission and Postgraduate Studentships for nominated candidates who do not secure the final fellowship.

How to Apply
Applicants must complete a two-stage application procedure before the stated deadlines:
- Identify an appropriate research postgraduate programme at Lingnan University and verify its specific admission requirements.
- Submit the initial application through the Research Grants Council (RGC) HKPFS Electronic System to obtain an official reference number.
- Submit the full PhD application directly through Lingnan University’s Online Admission System, selecting "HK PhD Fellowship Scheme (2027-28)" as the application type and providing your RGC reference number.
Deadline
The initial RGC application must be submitted by 1 December 2026 at 12:00 noon Hong Kong Time. The full Lingnan University application must be submitted by 1 December 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Hong Kong Time.
