The Global PhD Scholarship supports a collaborative doctoral project focused on developing and testing an inhaled treatment platform for lung cancer using boron neutron capture therapy. Funded jointly by Macquarie University in Australia and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in Taiwan, the program involves a joint enrolment (cotutelle) arrangement with components completed at both universities.
Benefits

- An annual stipend at a rate of $39,700 AUD (2026 rate, tax exempt) paid pro-rata while located on campus at Macquarie.

Eligibility
- Applicants must be eligible for direct entry into a full-time PhD program at both Macquarie University and National Tsing Hua University, commencing in February, September, or October 2027.
- Must meet admission and scholarship criteria set by both institutions, including English language requirements.
- Requires a background in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, medical physics, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Desirable qualifications include computational modelling experience, familiarity with aerosol science or respiratory biomechanics, and laboratory experiment experience.
- Currently enrolled PhD students at NTHU or Macquarie may apply if they retain a minimum of 24 months remaining in their candidature by September or October 2027.
- Applicants must not already hold a doctoral degree or be matriculated for a doctoral degree elsewhere.
