Global Advocacy Champions 2026–2027: WAGGGS Leadership and Advocacy Programme for Young Women

Overview

The Global Advocacy Champions 2026–2027 programme is an international leadership and advocacy development initiative offered by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Launched originally in 2018, the programme aims to equip young women with the knowledge, skills, and networks required to influence change, promote gender equality, and represent the voices of girls and young women across local, national, and international spheres.

Participants selected for the 2026–2027 cohort will also incorporate young women from the Girl-led Action on Climate Change initiative, blending environmental action with youth leadership and advocacy. Champions gain exposure to global spaces such as the UN Commission on the Status of Women, lead community-level projects, and support their national WAGGGS Member Organisations.

Applicants must satisfy the following core criteria:

  • Fall between the ages of 18 and 30.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in advocacy, gender equality, and WAGGGS priority issues.
  • Be willing to engage in a worldwide network and commit to community-level projects.

Prospective applicants should consult the official Terms of Reference to review additional responsibilities, time commitments, and the mandatory Member Organisation endorsement process.

Selected Global Advocacy Champions receive numerous professional and leadership growth opportunities:

  • Advocacy Training: Learn how to set objectives, engage stakeholders, and build effective campaigns.
