The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History awards annual short-term research fellowships valued at $3,000 each to support scholars conducting research using historical collections and resources in New York City. For the competition, the Institute expects to award ten Scholarly Fellowships. While projects covering all aspects of American history are eligible, particular attention is given to three priority fields: Colonial American history, Slavery and abolition studies, and Cold War studies. - College and university faculty members at every academic rank.
- Independent scholars not currently employed in traditional university faculty positions.
