The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is seeking senior global research and policy experts to serve as part-time, remote members of its Research Advisory Group. Successful candidates will provide independent scientific and research advice to support evidence-informed policy and development impact.

Overview
The FCDO Research Advisory Group (RAG) offers a senior-level, part-time advisory opportunity for experienced specialists to provide independent scientific and research advice to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Established to provide strategic guidance, rapid insight, and independent challenge to the research funding portfolio, the group helps assure the quality, relevance, and appropriateness of FCDO research.
Members serve in an independent personal capacity rather than as institutional representatives. The role involves contributing strategic advice on research priorities, reviewing funding effectiveness, participating in horizon-scanning, and connecting FCDO with specialized international research communities.

Eligibility
- Possess substantial senior professional experience and an international reputation in relevant thematic areas such as health, agriculture, climate, energy, water, economic growth, humanitarian affairs, education, governance, conflict, social development, and data for development.
- Demonstrate familiarity with government processes, policy development, and the relationship between research and public decision-making.
- Have an international and global perspective, including understanding capacity strengthening in the Global South and research translation.
- Commit to upholding the Seven Principles of Public Life (Nolan Principles) and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding official government papers.
