Overview
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) offers the Young Investigator Grant for International Researchers to attract accomplished scholars from around the world. The initiative aims to help participants establish or consolidate independent research careers at leading higher education and research institutions in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Up to 20 researchers will be selected to receive project funding of up to BRL 2.5 million, with a project duration of 60 months. A Young Investigator Fellowship and relocation support may also be requested.

Eligibility
- Open to researchers of all nationalities currently living and working outside Brazil.
- Applicants must have lived and resided abroad for at least two years following the completion of their PhD.
- Must demonstrate significant scientific achievements, research independence, and potential for leadership.
- Projects must fall under strategic research areas including biotechnology, energy transition, biodiversity, digital transition and artificial intelligence, quantum science and technology, human and animal health, and public security.

Applications must be submitted in English through FAPESP's SAGe system by navigating to New Proposal, Special Programs, YIG – Young Investigator Grant, Grant for International Researchers, and selecting the 2026 Call for Proposals. Required materials include a short CV, a research trajectory letter, a detailed research project description, fellowship work plans if applicable, and budget documentation.
