Overview
The FAO Fellows Programme 2026 offers an international opportunity for qualified professionals, researchers, and PhD candidates to collaborate with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Participants contribute technical knowledge to global development programs, policy research, and sustainable agri-food initiatives across FAO Headquarters, regional offices, sub-regional offices, country offices, and liaison offices worldwide.
The fellowship lasts up to 11 months, allowing fellows to work alongside specialized FAO teams under the supervision of assigned specialists.

Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a Master’s or PhD degree, be currently enrolled in a PhD programme, or be a recent graduate with advanced academic training.
- Candidates must demonstrate at least two years of relevant work or research experience in a field related to agriculture, food security, environmental sustainability, or development studies.
- Applicants must possess working knowledge of at least one FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish).
- Candidates must be nationals of an FAO Member country.
- Note that the fellowship is a non-staff opportunity without FAO remuneration; fellows must secure external financial support or sponsorship from an institution such as a university, research institute, or government body.
