ETH Zurich is offering a full-time, fixed-term PhD Student position in Macroeconomic Forecasting and Data Science at the KOF Swiss Economic Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. The role allows a motivated graduate to pursue a doctoral degree while participating in international economic forecasting activities, developing nowcasting models, and working with large-scale economic datasets.

Eligibility

• Hold or expect to complete a Master's degree in economics, econometrics, data science, statistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrate strong quantitative and programming capabilities, with a solid understanding of time-series econometrics and forecasting methods.
• Possess a good command of German, which is a mandatory prerequisite, alongside strong German and English writing skills.
• Provide a motivation letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample (such as a Master's thesis), academic records, certificates, and contact information for two to three referees.
