Overview
The Equality Fund Journalism Fellowship is designed to support experienced journalists reporting directly from communities affected by major social, economic, environmental, political, and human rights challenges. Launched in partnership with Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) and African Women in Media (AWiM), the fellowship selects up to five journalists for a programme running from January through September 2027. The core objective is for each fellow to produce and publish at least one fact-based story focusing on local solutions to global crises, incorporating a gender lens.

Eligibility
- Must have at least three years of active journalism experience.
- Must be located in and reporting on communities within an ODA-recipient country.
- Open to full-time staff, independent, and freelance journalists across text, digital, video, and audio platforms.
- Must be fluent in English.
- Must be able to accommodate meetings scheduled during daytime hours in Eastern Standard Time.
- Must have access to a bank account capable of receiving international Electronic Wire Transfers.
- Required to submit three robust journalism samples.
- Artificial intelligence is not permitted in the proposal or application stage, and any AI use during the reporting process must receive prior approval and disclosure.
