Overview

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) Traineeship Programme provides recent graduates and eligible university students with the opportunity to complete a paid, ten-month placement at the Agency’s headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The current intake runs from March 1, 2027, to December 31, 2027. The programme is designed as a structured learning and professional development experience, offering practical exposure to the European medicines regulatory system.

Eight distinct placements are available for the March 2027 intake, covering fields such as stakeholder engagement, pharmaceutical innovation, law, scientific information, veterinary digital services, paediatric pharmacovigilance, artificial intelligence, and financial data automation.

Eligibility

  • Nationality: Applicants must hold full citizenship of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway.
  • Academic Status: Candidates must fall into at least one of the following groups: recent university graduates who completed a relevant degree of at least three years between September 30, 2025, and September 30, 2026; students completing a placement via Erasmus+ or a comparable programme; current master’s students who have already completed a relevant earlier degree; or current doctoral students whose education relates to the chosen placement.
  • Language Requirements: A thorough command of English at a minimum of CEFR level C1, and good knowledge of another official EU language at a minimum of CEFR level B2.
