Overview
The CyberSafe x SANS AI Security Fellowship is a fully funded, nine-month advanced training and certification programme designed for experienced African women in cybersecurity who want to specialise in securing AI systems and applications. Delivered online by the CyberSafe Foundation in partnership with the SANS Institute, the fellowship transitions participants from foundational AI security literacy to advanced application security and automation practices.
Benefits
- No tuition fees, as the programme is fully funded with training and certification pathways provided as an in-kind contribution.

- Practical skill development covering large language models (LLMs), generative AI applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, AI threat modelling, and security automation.
- Preparation for GIAC AI Platform Security (GAIPS) and GIAC AI Security Automation Engineer (GASAE) certifications.
- Instruction from working AI security consultants, researchers, and course authors, along with mentorship and structured support.
Eligibility
- Must be a woman older than 21.
- Must be African, speak English, and currently reside in an African country.
- Must possess at least three years of hands-on cybersecurity experience.
- Must have a genuine interest in AI security and be willing to commit to the full fellowship duration and prerequisite coursework.
