Overview
The Civic Science Fellow, Evidence & Creator Partnerships initiative at AcademyHealth is designed to explore how evidence-based health policy information can reach wider public audiences through social media creators, digital platforms, and trusted community messengers. Running from September 2026 through March 2028, the 18-month fellowship centers on a project titled "Bridging Science and Social Media for Better Health Policy." The Fellow will lead landscape assessments, recruit a cohort of emerging evidence creators, co-design partnership models, produce pilot content, build a publicly available toolkit, present findings, and establish sustainability plans.
Fellows commit approximately 75 percent of their time to host-organisation project work and 25 percent to cohort learning activities, including weekly virtual Fellows Labs and required meetings. The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $85,000 and paid leave, though health insurance and other benefits are excluded. AcademyHealth offers a hybrid work environment with remote flexibility; candidates do not need to be based in Washington, DC.

Eligibility
- Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree (a Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory).
- Candidates are expected to have approximately 3 to 5 years of substantive professional experience in fields such as health communications, science communications, health policy, journalism, community engagement, digital audience development, or related areas.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, multi-stakeholder coordination, digital communications, or influencer and partnership strategy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex information into accessible public-facing content.
