Overview

The CFJ Fellowship, organized by the Centre for Feminist Justice (CFJ), places early-career women lawyers in human rights organizations, legal aid clinics, and government institutions. Fellows work on strategic litigation, legal representation, and advocacy to protect women and children from violence in Kenya, Malawi, The Gambia, or South Africa.

Eligibility

  • Hold a law degree from a recognized institution.
  • Be admitted to practice law in the host country (Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, or The Gambia).
  • Have up to 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to women’s rights and human rights advocacy.
  • Possess the right to work in the host country, as CFJ does not cover relocation or work authorization expenses.
  • Be fluent in English, with proficiency in other local languages considered an advantage.

Applicants must prepare and submit the necessary documents, which include a CV and cover letter in English, proof of a law degree and practicing certificate, evidence of work authorization in the host country, and a statement of interest detailing motivation and alignment with CFJ's mission.
