Overview
The CEES Fellowship Program supports residential research stays at the University of Zurich for highly talented young or mid-career scholars. Hosted by the Center for Eastern European Studies (CEES) in Switzerland, the fellowship invites researchers working on historical or contemporary topics related to Russia, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, or Central Asia. For Spring 2027, there is a particular interest in geopolitical trends, economic connectivity, and transnational issues related to the South Caucasus. Fellows spend up to four months in residence during the semester, pursue independent research, participate in CEES activities, present a workshop, and publish their findings in CEES publication outlets.

Eligibility
- Open to highly talented and innovative young or mid-career scholars in the social sciences or humanities

- Applicants must be enrolled or employed at their home university
How to Apply
Applicants must prepare and combine all required application materials into a single PDF document written in English. The required documents include:
- A letter of motivation
- A research proposal (3–5 pages)
- A curriculum vitae including a list of publications
- A short writing sample (article or book chapter length)
- A short proposal for a presentation to be held at CEES
- Two letters of recommendation and/or the names of two referees
