Overview

The ARES Scholarship in Belgium invites international professionals and students to enroll in specialized Bachelor’s degrees, specialized Master’s programs, and short continuing training courses at higher education institutions within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Funded by the Government of Belgium through ARES, the initiative aims to enhance expertise in development-related subjects rather than provide full-time conventional degrees. Program durations span one year for advanced Bachelor's and Master's courses, and two to six months for training programs.

Eligibility

  • Must be a citizen, resident, and employee of one of the 32 ARES partner-eligible countries across Africa, South America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Asia.
  • Must hold a prior higher education diploma (such as a Bachelor's or Master's degree).
  • Must possess a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience within an ARES partner country.

How to Apply

Application submission is free and conducted online via the GIRAF platform. Interested candidates should adhere to the following procedural steps:

  • Register for a GIRAF account and wait for validation by ARES.
  • Log in and navigate to “Application for international training,” then select “My tasks” followed by “Competitive calls” to access the form.
  • Complete the application fields, with the option to save progress before final submission.
  • Submit the finalized application form.

Required documentation typically includes recommendation letters, certified copies of academic diplomas and transcripts, proof of professional occupancy for the past five years, a nationality certificate or passport copy, and any necessary pre-project documents.
