The Andreas Tietze Memorial Fellowship 2027 in Turkish Studies is an international research opportunity hosted by the Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Vienna in Austria. Designed for advanced doctoral candidates and early-stage postdoctoral researchers, the annual fellowship provides recipients the opportunity to spend between one and three months in Vienna to pursue an original research project or develop external research funding proposals, such as European Research Council or Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions grants.
Fellows are required to reside in Vienna during their stay and actively participate in the academic life of the department, which includes presenting their research through public lectures or seminars. Available commencement dates in 2027 include 1 March, 1 May, 1 September, and 1 November.

Eligibility
- Advanced Doctoral Candidates: Must be at an advanced doctoral stage (ABD status), having completed major requirements other than the dissertation.
- Postdoctoral and Early-Stage Researchers: Must have received their PhD no more than five years prior to application.
- Language Proficiency: Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English. Knowledge of German is an advantage but not mandatory. Applications may be submitted in either English or German.
- Research Scope: Must propose an original research project related to Turkish Studies. While themes such as environmental history, history of technology, digital humanities, consumption history, history of tourism, and cultural heritage are welcomed, other original topics within Turkish Studies are also eligible.

- Cover Letter: Explaining where the applicant intends to submit a research funding application and how the proposed project aligns with the department's research interests and goals.

- Research Project Outline: A three-to-five-page document describing the research topic, objectives, methodology, sources, and academic context.
- References: Names and contact information of two individuals who can serve as references (letters of recommendation are not required initially).
