Overview
The A.S. Hornby Educational Trust Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity designed for experienced English language teaching professionals from low- and middle-income countries. Scholars undertake a Master’s in Education (TESOL) at the University of Exeter to build professional capacity globally. The program supports up to ten scholars for the 2027–28 academic year.

Eligibility
- Must reside and work in a country listed on the OECD DAC list (Least Developed, Low Income, Lower Middle Income, or Upper Middle Income).
- Must possess at least three years of full-time TESOL teaching or related professional experience following a first degree.
- Must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK upper second-class honours or higher, or a relevant postgraduate degree.
- Must not hold a doctoral degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, English, or a related field.
- Must not hold a master’s degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, English, or a related area from a UK university.
How to Apply
Candidates must fill out the online Hornby Scholarship application form without applying to the MEd TESOL programme first. If shortlisted, applicants will receive instructions to apply for the programme and participate in an interview.
