Overview
The 2027 Italy-AOSIS Fellowship Programme is a yearlong initiative designed to build capacity among early-career professionals from Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) member countries. Fellows work full-time at their UN Permanent Mission in New York, receiving practical training in law, policy, and science related to climate change, oceans, environmental protection, and sustainable development. The programme begins in February 2027.

Eligibility
- Must be a national of an AOSIS member country
- Aged 25 to 32 years old at the start of the programme
- Hold a degree in a relevant field such as international relations, international law, environment, climate change, sustainable development, fisheries, ocean affairs, or finance
- Possess 1 to 3 years of experience (maximum 5 years) working in a national government or a regional/international organization
- Commit to returning to work in their national government following the completion of the fellowship
- Demonstrate discretion, sound judgment, an excellent academic record, writing skills, and proficiency in written and spoken English
How to Apply
Applicants cannot apply directly; instead, interested individuals must contact the Permanent Mission to the United Nations of their country of nationality. All applications must be submitted by the applicant’s Permanent Mission in New York to [email protected]. Submissions must include:
- Completed application form
- Note Verbale from the Permanent Mission endorsing the applicant
- Written sample of no longer than 3 pages
- Clear copy of the applicant’s passport biodata page valid for at least 18 months past the start date
- Standardized Curriculum Vitae of no longer than 1 page
