The 2027–2028 APAICS Congressional Fellowship provides a 12-month placement in a U.S. congressional office or committee for individuals interested in public policy and legislation. Participants receive a monthly educational stipend while gaining practical policy experience in Washington, D.C.

The 2027–2028 APAICS Congressional Fellowship is a 12-month professional opportunity based in Washington, D.C. It runs from August 30, 2027, to August 25, 2028. Fellows are placed directly within a U.S. congressional office or committee, undertaking work comparable to a congressional legislative aide. Throughout the programme, participants engage in professional development, meet with their cohort twice a month, attend APAICS events such as the Annual Awards Gala and policy summits, and deliver a public policy presentation near the end of the fellowship year.
Please note that fellows are not employees of the federal government, their host office, or APAICS, but instead receive a monthly educational stipend.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a complete application package before the deadline. The required components include:
- A cover letter expressing interest in the programme.
- A resume of no more than one page.
- An academic transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation, which must be submitted by recommenders through the designated portal.
- Responses to three specific application questions, formatted as maximum one-page, double-spaced documents in 12-point Times New Roman font.
The application questions cover career path aspirations and goals, proximity to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander communities and its impact on public policy views, and an experience involving teamwork and problem-solving.
