The programme provides USD $5,000 awards to outstanding professionals working on innovative education, communication, extension, and outreach initiatives that promote improved soil fertility management and efficient plant nutrient use in African agricultural systems.

Eligibility
Applications are open to full-time professionals working within Africa who serve as scientists, agricultural extension specialists, or educators. Applicants must be employed full-time by one of the following:
- National Agricultural Research and Extension System (NARES) institutions
- Universities
- Non-profit organizations
- Private sector organizations
Students are not eligible. Female applicants are especially encouraged to apply. Applications may be submitted in either English or French.
